Start preparing the Valentine’s butter cookies by putting the four ingredients in a saucepan: water, salt, butter and sugar (1.). Let them melt on the heat until they touch the boil, then turn off and let it cool for about 20 minutes (2.). In a large bowl pour the previously sifted flour, the sachet of vanillin and the baking sachet. After the liquid has cooled, pour it over the flour (3.).
Knead vigorously to form a smooth and homogeneous dough (4.). Wrap the dough in the transparent film and let it rest in the fridge for 3 hours. After the rest time, take out the loaf you made (5.) and divide it in half so that you can spread it easily. Roll out the shortcrust pastry with a rolling pin (6.) until a 2 mm thick paste is obtained.I remind you that during cooking, it will increase its volume. With a heart-shaped mold made on the shortcrust of butter, many hearts (7.). Place them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and bake at 180 degrees for 12 minutes or until golden brown (8.). Let the biscuits straighten and decorate them as you see fit. I used red ice and icing sugar.
